Substation maintains high crime-solving rate! Congratulations to the hard-working deputies who staff the Oakland County Sheriff’s Substation in Oxford Township. The results are in and last year, they had the second highest clearance rate among the sheriff’s 12 substations.
Of the 214 criminal offenses reported in Oxford Township last year, 173 (or 80.84 percent) were cleared or solved. Of those, 106 resulted in arrests. The remaining 67 were cleared by exceptional means – circumstances beyond law enforcement’s control that prevent the agency from arresting and formally charging a suspect.
“We couldn’t ask for a more dedicated, more courageous, more hard-working group of men and women than the one that protects our neighborhoods, our schools, our places of worship, our parks and our businesses,” said Oxford Township Supervisor Jack Curtis. “Because of them, we can sleep soundly at night. Because of them, we can freely enjoy everything our wonderful township has to offer. We should never take their services and sacrifices for granted. Oxford stands behind its deputies and is grateful for their reassuring presence in our daily lives.”
The Oxford Twp. substation is located at 310 Dunlap Rd., just north of Seymour Lake Rd. The substation is staffed by 24 full-time officers. Oxford’s command staff consists of Lt. Scott Patterson, Sgt. Ric Meza and Sgt. Eric Dougherty.

SOS coming to Oxford May 8! The Michigan Secretary of State's Mobile Office will provide services at the Oxford Senior Center in Seymour Lake Twp. Park on Friday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Oxford seniors (age 50 and older) and seniors living in neighboring communities are invited to book a visit for various transactions, including renewing driver’s licenses and state identification cards, applying for state ID cards (first time), title transfers and applying for/renewing disability placards. Spring is in the air! I popped up to the township hall Tuesday evening to see if I could snap a few photos of one of the colorful Tom turkeys that roosts around us. I was in luck. This big ol’ boy came in strutting and gobbling. He put on quite a show for my camera. Thank you, sir. Photos by C.J. Carnacchio.
