Keeping Oxford history alive one boulder at a time!
Kudos to Saradan Construction for donating its labor and equipment to place four big, beautiful boulders throughout Oxford on Thursday afternoon as part of the township’s historical marker program. All of the boulders were graciously donated by the Edward C. Levy Co. and Koenig Materials.

Boulders – on which 16x20 bronze plaques containing historical narratives and photographs will be mounted – were placed at the following locations:
• Polly Ann Trail, north of W. Drahner Rd. – This marker will honor Brace Beemer, the Oxford Township resident who was the iconic radio voice of the Lone Ranger from 1941 to 1954.
• 111 S. Washington St. – This marker will honor Dr. Aileen Corbit, Oxford’s first woman physician and the driving force behind the creation of the John Crawford Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, in 1918
• Legacy 925 – This marker will honor Cornelius Nathaniel “C.N.” Ray III, founder of Sea Ray Boats, which operated at 925 N. Lapeer Rd. from 1962 to 1991.
• North Oxford Cemetery – This marker will honor the North Oxford Schoolhouse adjacent to the cemetery. Built in 1915, this quaint structure (now a private residence) once held the distinction of being the last operating one-room schoolhouse in Oakland County.

A total of nine township historical markers will be erected in 2026. A public unveiling ceremony for the Brace Beemer marker will kick off the season in May. The date is being finalized and will be announced soon.

The Beemer marker was funded by donations from:
• North Oakland Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 334
• Fraternal Order of Police James R. Lafnear Metro-Pontiac Lodge #132
• Michigan Association of Broadcasters
Village of Oxford
• Joseph and Diane Carnacchio
• Fletcher Spears III and Karen Spears
• Rick, Kristina and Tim in loving memory of their parents, Richard and Lucille Kroninger

Thank you, everyone!
